Surprisingly, urinary tract infections are a very simple infection to treat naturally. You do NOT need antibiotics to treat U.T.I.s. Because these infections are usually caused by E coli bacteria living in the urinary tract, you can use three things to naturally treat your problem.
6. You should also consider acidophilus dairy products which encourage a healthy good bacteria count for your digestive and urinary tracts. 7. pH levels are also extremely important for a healthy urinary tract. Here is a list of foods which restore the health to your urinary tract: kale, spinach, potatoes, yams, zucchini, carrots, squash, onions, mineral water, broccoli, mustard greens, eggplant, green beans, avocado, grapes, pears and apples.
2. You should also boost your immunity immediately and increase your count of good bacteria. You can do this by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. You should also consider a vitamin C supplement which may be found at any health store. Make sure to take regularly with food for body absorption.
4. You should also increase your zinc intake. Zinc and vitamin C work together to keep your immunity at its highest levels. 5. Many natural remedies for U.T.I. recommend drinking cranberry juice till you vomit. This is a big mistake because high levels of sugar can make the infection worse. However, cranberries are one way to keep your urinary tract healthy for infection prevention. Make sure to regularly drink one glass of cranberry juice or daily supplement cranberry tablets.

Our Readers' Questions:
Cat had a urinary tract infection and now pees everywhere?
Juliananananana asked on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
My six month old cat recently developed a urinary tract infection and we brought him to the vet and he is now on a special medicine and diet. Ever since then, though, he has been peeing everywhere (on clothes, beds, even in our bath tub) as if he was never litter box trained! Does anyone know why this is or what we should do?
sheidu5 replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
It is letting you know that something isn't right. If the med. doesn't help him or her within a couple days, get it back to the vet. It can kill a cat.

He is letting you know something isn't right. He was litter trained before, and now he is trying to let you know he is still sick. Can you lock him in a room so he does not soil everything you own? Also talk to the vet. Maybe he needs a change in the meds, depending on how long he has been on them.
victoria replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
that is the first sign of a urinary tract infection . call the vet and ask how long it should be doing that . the meds might not be working
Nubia Blaque loves babies replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
give him amoxicillin..po 2x daily
claire cool replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
its not his fault that he pees just block him of in a room till he is better
DaniG replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
He might still be in pain and you should take him to the vet asap. If he's actually better, then he probably needs to be retrained to use the litter box. He has associated the pain of the urinary tract infection with the litter box.
Monitor him so if you see he starts scratching through your clothes or your bed sheets (like he would do with the litter) it means he's going probably going to pee. Clap your hands or something to make him stop. Then take him to the litter box. If he's good and uses it, give him a treat. Just be patient. And don't get angry at him, it's not his fault. Remember also to keep the litter box clean
My kitty also got an UTI and was peeing on my bed. Now she's doing just fine :)

Either he is still experiencing pain or these places still smell like urine. Get an enzymatic cleaner to clean the places where he goes so that it doesn't still smell like an appropriate place to pee. Also call your vet tomorrow, phone calls are free and it wont hurt anything, ask if this behavior should still be continuing. It is possible that he needs a different dosage or medicine. Remember not all antibiotics fight all infections. Of course, do not stop giving any medicine without your vet's knowledge as it can prolong or inhibit the healing or create antibiotic resistant bacteria. It could also be that you haven't given the medication enough time to work. You didn't say how long ago he was put on it.
