Candida Testing: Why you May need a Yeast Infection Test
Women often mistake other diseases for a yeast infection. Candida testing is designed to detect this condition, but there are various other conditions you may have. These include bacterial infection, vulvitis, and a urinary tract infection. This article will discuss the other conditions you may be suffering from when you have a yeast infection test.
Bacterial Infection One reason that you should have candida testing is that you may instead have a bacterial infection. Itching and pain are common symptoms shared between these two types of infections. There is also a discharge that may be dark yellow, green, or brown. Infections caused by fungal infections have a discharge that is yellow or clear. Another reason to have a yeast infection test is urinary tract infections.

Urinary Tract Infection Another reason to have candida testing is because you could have a urinary tract infection. These infections are caused by bacteria that infects the urethra instead of infecting the vagina. You will likely experience burning while urinating. This burning starts while the urine passes down the tube on the way out of the vagina. Yeast infections can also cause burning while urinating, but the burning starts once the urine reaches the outside of the vagina. If you mistake a bacterial infection for a yeast infection, it can travel up the bladder and damage your kidneys.
Trichomoniasis Some women who take a yeast infection test have trichomoniasis instead. Trichomoniasis is a parasite that is generally transmitted during sex. It can infect the vagina and the urinary tract. Women often mistake this for a yeast infection because this condition also causes itching in the vaginal area. You may also experience pain during urination and sex. One of the final reasons to have candida testing is vulvitis.

Candida testing will only detect a yeast infection. There are other conditions that share the symptoms of these infections and are commonly misdiagnosed. They include a bacterial infection, vulvitis, and a urinary tract infection. If you have never had a positive yeast infection test from a doctor, you should get checked out whenever you experience symptoms because you may instead have a more serious condition.
Vulvitis Vulvitis is the inflammation of the vulva which are your external sex organs. This includes the clitoris, labia, and the entrance of the vagina. This burning sensation is often mistaken for a yeast infection.

Cat had a urinary tract infection and now pees everywhere?
Juliananananana asked on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
My six month old cat recently developed a urinary tract infection and we brought him to the vet and he is now on a special medicine and diet. Ever since then, though, he has been peeing everywhere (on clothes, beds, even in our bath tub) as if he was never litter box trained! Does anyone know why this is or what we should do?

It is letting you know that something isn't right. If the med. doesn't help him or her within a couple days, get it back to the vet. It can kill a cat.

He is letting you know something isn't right. He was litter trained before, and now he is trying to let you know he is still sick. Can you lock him in a room so he does not soil everything you own? Also talk to the vet. Maybe he needs a change in the meds, depending on how long he has been on them.
victoria replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
that is the first sign of a urinary tract infection . call the vet and ask how long it should be doing that . the meds might not be working

its not his fault that he pees just block him of in a room till he is better
DaniG replied on Sun, 28 Mar, 2010
He might still be in pain and you should take him to the vet asap. If he's actually better, then he probably needs to be retrained to use the litter box. He has associated the pain of the urinary tract infection with the litter box.
Monitor him so if you see he starts scratching through your clothes or your bed sheets (like he would do with the litter) it means he's going probably going to pee. Clap your hands or something to make him stop. Then take him to the litter box. If he's good and uses it, give him a treat. Just be patient. And don't get angry at him, it's not his fault. Remember also to keep the litter box clean
My kitty also got an UTI and was peeing on my bed. Now she's doing just fine :)

Either he is still experiencing pain or these places still smell like urine. Get an enzymatic cleaner to clean the places where he goes so that it doesn't still smell like an appropriate place to pee. Also call your vet tomorrow, phone calls are free and it wont hurt anything, ask if this behavior should still be continuing. It is possible that he needs a different dosage or medicine. Remember not all antibiotics fight all infections. Of course, do not stop giving any medicine without your vet's knowledge as it can prolong or inhibit the healing or create antibiotic resistant bacteria. It could also be that you haven't given the medication enough time to work. You didn't say how long ago he was put on it.
